SAS+Associates was the selected firm for the UMD Children’s Center Site, Landscape and Playground Improvements. UMD’s Children’s Center is located among three building walls with a gated user entry on the fourth side. Limited space and vertical walls on three sides created a challenge to “fit” the necessary developmental elements into the space while bringing the scale of the ‘yard’ down to the users height.
SAS+Associates worked closely with UMD staff on playground equipment selection while creating multiple “outdoor” play elements such as a loop riding track, planting areas and sand play that challenge the users creativity and physical needs.
